Conservation · Meeting of September 8, 2026

Abington Conservation Commission votes to threaten $300-a-day fines over a stalled Brockton Avenue wetland violation. The board unanimously amended the enforcement order, giving the owner, identified as an LLC managed by Rene Saad, until its September 22 meeting to retain a wetland scientist and surveyor; representative Cesar Alcori said a pending sale of the gas station property cannot close until the violation, tied to fill and pavement in a 200-foot riverfront protection area, is resolved. One member said, "It seems to me that the owner isn't really taking this very seriously." The commission also pressed a separate boat-salvage-yard case at 22 Helm Street, where resident Bill Craden told the board unapproved fill amounted to "640 pickup trucks," and heard a lengthy critique from member Libby of a weak wetland restoration plan proposed for 182 Groveland Street.

The board separately approved a deck expansion at 41 Orchard Lane and a home addition under SE084-0593.
