Select Board Delays Vote on ADA Access Plan

Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Abington Select Board delays vote on its first ADA transition plan after a resident blasts it as incomplete. The board voted 4-1 to push a decision on the $100,000 Old Colony Planning Council document to October 5, after Melissa Pond, who managed Quincy's ADA plan, said "please don't adopt this as the final draft." Separately, the board heard that Abington-Rockland Joint Water Works remains under a state-confirmed emergency declaration with level four restrictions, $100-$300 fines for violators, and is weighing a roughly $500,000 short-term Brockton hookup against an $8 million long-term MWRA pipeline. The board also appointed Chris Schultz to the Board of Health on a 9-0 roll call, dismissed a dangerous-dog complaint involving two dogs named Bruno and Mars, and unanimously confirmed CPA Bradley Ray as an independent internal control advisor reporting directly to the board.
