Abington Select Board Fills Two Water Commission Seats, Approves Bruins Rink Deal

Abington Select Board restores Water Commission quorum and locks in $50,000 Boston Bruins Foundation rink deal. The board, sitting jointly with sole Water Commissioner Amanda, unanimously appointed licensed master plumber Cory Dalton of 279 North Quincy Street and retired Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander Richard Mullen of 707 Plymouth Street to the two vacant Abington seats on the Abington-Rockland Joint Water Works commission, which had been at risk of losing quorum with only four of six seats filled. The board also unanimously approved a licensing agreement with the Boston Bruins Charitable Foundation, whose $50,000 donation will place the Bruins' logo at center ice of the new Arnold Park street hockey rink, expected to open within two weeks.

Arnold Park project volunteer Alex Pazanson said he had been told a decade ago by Bruins executive Bob Sweeney, "I'll give you $50,000, but you have to be shovel-ready." Town Manager Michael Cull separately reported that Rockland Trust Bank is in early discussions about donating funds for picnic tables and benches at the park.
