Abington Select Board fills three Conservation Commission seats in single meeting

ABINGTON — October 25, 2021 — Abington Select Board fills Conservation Commission vacancies and delays Board of Health appointment over charter posting error. The board unanimously appointed Alex Leary and Timothy Warner as voting members of the Conservation Commission and approved Daniel Camerata as associate member in a 4-0-1 vote at its Monday night meeting. A planned joint appointment to the Board of Health was postponed after Town Administrator Scott Lambiase determined the vacancy had been posted for 20 days rather than the charter-required 10-day window, meaning two of three applicants had submitted outside the valid period; the vacancy will be reposted October 26 and a joint appointment meeting set for November 8. The board also unanimously accepted a donation of two parcels at 0 Linwood Street — totaling approximately 6.92 acres along Beaver Brook — from Roger Woods Jr. and his son Michael, referring the gift to the Open Space Committee and Conservation Commission for final action. Charter Review Commission Chairman Rick Collins, attending as a resident, told the board that reposting the Board of Health notice means "the clock starts over" and prior applicants must file anew.
