Abington School Committee postpones votes on new ICE and restraint policies to Friday. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Basta and Director of Student Services Dr.
Robbins briefed the board on a K-5 literacy curriculum search backed by roughly $136,000 in carried-over PRISM II grant funds, plus a new continuation grant of about $220,000. Robbins detailed a new partnership with Abington Copes and the agency Cartwheel providing 15 student mental health counseling referrals, grades 2 through 12. Superintendent Dr.
Michelle reported the district is about 97 percent staffed, with enrollment down roughly 40 students and an incoming kindergarten class of 167 students in eight sections. A $275,000 town meeting appropriation will fund a Beaverbrook boiler replacement this fall. "This board is policy and budget," Chair Melanie told a resident requesting more transparency on health education curriculum.
The meeting adjourned unanimously with all substantive votes continued to a Friday virtual session.
