Abington Youth Soccer is marking its 50th season and asking alumni to help fill out the archive.

ABINGTON --

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Abington Youth Soccer is celebrating 50 years this fall, according to the Abington Select Board's September 8 meeting, where a message from AYS President Rick Collins was read aloud. The league held its first games in 1975 and officially became an organization in 1976. AYS is looking to connect with former program alumni and is asking anyone with old jerseys, patches, logos, team photos or other memorabilia from the past 50 years to reach out. An anniversary event is planned at the turf fields on Saturday, September 19, at 11 a.m. Those with items to share can email AYS President Rick Collins at ayspres@gmail.com.

COMMUNITY -- The Abington Cops 5K race and walk is set for Sunday, September 20, at 9 a.m. at the Woodsdale School, with food trucks, a DJ and family activities, according to the Select Board meeting. Registration information is available at abingtoncopes.org. The Abington Police Mascot Golf Tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, at Old Scotland Links, per the same meeting.
