School Committee · Meeting of March 10, 2026

Abington School Committee finalized a $1,622,114 override request for the fiscal year 2027 school budget. Superintendent Felicia Moschella said the figure dropped $141,843 since January due to a $50,544 cut in out-of-district special education tuition, a $35,229 savings from a higher circuit breaker reimbursement rate (72 percent to 75 percent), and $56,070 in transportation savings from revised bus-age and depot terms. The committee approved a level service budget of $34,216,379 and a level funded budget of $32,594,265.

Moschella said she had been asked whether the smaller override meant cut positions could return, and said "you can't decrease the increase and then cut more," noting a lower final bus contract could free up about $57,000 for adjustments after the number is submitted. The committee also approved the 2026-27 school calendar and entered executive session on union negotiations.
