ABINGTON — July 6, 2026 — Abington Planning Board continued all three development applications before it to its September meeting at the July 6 session, citing incomplete plans and unresolved zoning issues. The board approved the release of $421.69 in accrued interest on a McHugh Circle surety account — the only formal financial action of the evening — before turning to a string of site plan reviews under the state's new ADU law. A detached 900-square-foot ADU proposed at 563 Plum Street was continued after members flagged an incorrect locus map, illegible dimensions, a missing second egress, and no utilities, lighting, or trash storage shown on the plan; members also raised the unusual question of whether the site, described as the location of a prior murder, had been formally cleared by police for ground disturbance, though no hold was found to be in place. A two-story 408-square-foot attached ADU at 243 Plymouth Street, represented by Max Capola of Grady Consulting LLC for applicants William and Darlene Lopes, was continued pending the outcome of a ZBA variance request on a five-foot side setback, with neighboring resident Donna Reanella, 255 Plymouth Street, appearing to say the structure would be "a little tight" at that distance. Engineering consultant Larry Silva told the board that the 676 Bedford Street commercial conversion remains too cramped as a four-unit project, and the applicant agreed on the record to revise plans for three units before returning in September.
